Manchester: Sergio Aguero scored a hat trick as Manchester City overpowered Wigan 3-0 to register a fourth straight Premier League victory. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton lost 0-2 at home to Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa earned a 2-2 draw at Everton.
In Manchester, Aguero opened the scoring in the 13th minute after finishing a pass from David Silva and added two more with strikes in the 63rd and 69th as City's attacking interplay proved too much for Wigan.
Aguero has now scored five goals in two home games for City.
Carlos Tevez made his first start of the season alongside Aguero up front, hours after City coach Roberto Mancini confirmed he had stripped the Argentine striker of the club captaincy.
Tevez had a hand in Aguero's goal and then missed a 19th-minute penalty before being replaced by Samir Nasri after an hour.
For Spurs, Emmanuel Adebayor scored on his debut on Saturday to help Tottenham earn their first Premier League win of the season with a 2-0 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Adebayor made his first start since joining on loan from Manchester City and opened the scoring midway through the second half after collecting a pass from fellow Tottenham newcomer Scott Parker.
Jermain Defoe doubled their lead after playing a one-two with Niko Kranjcar before drilling a low shot past goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp made five changes from the side beaten 5-1 at home by Manchester City, with defender Ledley King making his first start of the campaign in place of the injured Michael Dawson.
Alos, Aston Villa rallied twice to hold Everton to a 2-2 draw. Stiliyan Petrov and Gabriel Agbonlahor scored for Aston Villa to preserve their unbeaten Premier League start.
Everton hardly seemed bothered by the sale of Mikel Arteta to Arsenal as they claimed a deserved halftime lead through Leon Osman's goal in the 19th minute. Petrov equalised in the 63rd only to see Leighton Baines restore the hosts' lead with a penalty six minutes later.
But Agbonlahor's header in the 83rd earned Villa the point and left Everton frustrated at the lack of reward for a fluid attacking display.
The game was preceded by a peaceful protest outside the stadium by several hundred supporters frustrated at a lack of investment under chairman Bill Kenwright.
