The NEET examination has recently taken the headlines after people from several parts of the country were accused of paper leakage and marking irregularities. These recent incidents have sparked questions over the role National Testing Agency (NTA), which is responsible for conducting the medical entrance examination every year. Over 23 lakh students appeared for the examination this year out of which 67 students secured the All India Rank of 1. As the controversy takes its turn students have already started the preparation for the NEET UG examination 2025.
The NEET UG exam next year is expected to be held in May. Students who aim to be doctors need to crack this exam to get admission to government and private medical colleges. The exam is held based on subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Biology. NEET PG exam is also held every year. Students who have passed their MBBS degree can it for the examination for higher studies.
NEET UG 2025: When will the examination be held next year?
The NEET UG examination conducted by the NTA is expected to be held in the first week of May. There is no official announcement by the board. The tentative schedule is expected to be released by the end of this year. Candidates who failed to score the desired marks in this year’s examination can also take the exam next year.
NEET UG 2025: Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria are expected to stay the same as of this year. Let us look at the criteria in detail:
- The candidate should have passed the 12th-grade examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as subjects.
- Candidates belonging to the general category should have at least 50 per cent marks in the 12th-grade examination. For General-PWD candidates the qualifying mark is 45 per cent. Candidates belonging to the SC, ST, OBC, and reserved PWD categories should have a percentage of at least 40 per cent.
- Students studied in open schools are also eligible to appear for the NEET exam.
