To improve the quality of education and to keep a tab on the educational activities in the government secondary schools affiliated to the Secondary Education Council i.e. UP Board, a pilot online monitoring project has been launched in Prayagraj division.

The pilot online monitoring project was jointly launched by Dr Mahendra Dev, Director of Secondary Education and Divya Kant Shukla, Deputy Director of Education, Prayagraj division on Saturday.

A modern control room has been set up in the office of the Joint Director of Education, Prayagraj division to enable online monitoring of the educational activities of 150 government inter-colleges of the Prayagraj division.

Online monitoring of 150 government residential schools in the four districts of the division, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur and Kaushambi has been started from the control room. Under this, thirty-five government residential schools in Prayagraj, twenty-five in Kaushambi, forty-seven in Fatehpur and forty-three in Pratapgarh will be monitored. The classrooms of these schools will be monitored directly from the control room set up in the office of the Joint Director of Education, Secondary, Prayagraj.

It will ascertain whether the teachers are teaching in the schools or not. In addition, other activities in the schools will also be known. With the help of technology, the schools can be monitored without physical visits. Speaking on the occasion, Director of Secondary Education, Dr Mahendra Dev, said the children studying in the government inter colleges are brilliant. They just need proper guidance. Efforts are being made to ensure that they do not lack any skill. For this purpose, this online monitoring system has been introduced. It requires the cooperation of parents and teachers.

He said he would also appeal to retired teachers to teach in our schools. He said that the efforts made in the Prayagraj division are commendable. Preparations are being made to implement it across the state. He said that we will also take the feedback. We are trying to get all our schools on camera. He said that there are 2300 government residential schools in the state. By December, all government residential schools will be connected to the online monitoring system.

According to Divya Kant Shukla, Joint Director of Secondary Education Prayagraj Division, in the second phase, the aided and unaided schools of the division will also be involved in this campaign. In the second phase, the aided and unaided schools of the district will also be involved in the campaign. 360-aided schools of the district will be involved in the campaign. This way, classes will be monitored online. According to Divya Kant Shukla, Deputy Director of Education, online monitoring of classes will be done only to improve the level of education.

Divya Kant Shukla, Secretary, of UP Board, said the special thing about this project is that there is no additional expenditure on this campaign. The UP Board had installed CCTV cameras in schools for monitoring during exams. With the help of these cameras, classes were monitored during exams. Now, with the help of these cameras, classes are also being monitored online. He expressed hope that with the use of the cameras, the quality of teaching in secondary schools will improve further.

It is worth mentioning that more than 27 thousand schools are affiliated to the Board of Secondary Education i.e. UP Board. The online monitoring was set up to ensure fairness, transparency and sanctity of 10th and 12th standard exams. The online monitoring of the examination centres was done from a control room set up at the UP Board headquarters and in Lucknow. This enabled copy-free examinations to be conducted across the state. Now, the plan is to improve the quality of education through this pilot project. This will enable children studying in government inter-colleges to also get a place on the merit list.
