Merit-cum-Means To James Thomson, Scholarships At IIT Roorkee
For the James Thomson Scholarship, the candidates must be students of B.Tech, B.Arch or a few other Integrated programmes.

IIT Roorkee provides scholarships to several meritorious students every year. Some scholarships are given as fee concessions while in the case of other scholarships, the amount is directly credited to the respective bank accounts. The scholarships offered to the students are Merit-cum-Means Scholarship, James Thomson Scholarship, Inspire SHE Scholarship and Dr Surendra K Goel and Mrs Kusum Goel Scholarship. Merit-cum-Means Scholarship

The Merit-cum-Means Scholarship is available for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The undergraduate students eligible for this scholarship receive Rs 1,000 for 10 months along with a full refund of the the tuition fee. The postgraduate students also received Rs 1,000 per month for 10 months. Only full-time regular students are eligible for this scholarship. Students who are enrolled in a dual program can apply for this scholarship only during their fourth year.

Eligibility criteria to avail of this scholarship:

Candidates must belong to the general, general (EWS) or OBC category.

The Candidate must be a student of B.Tech, B.Arch, Integrated Dual Degree, Integrated Masters of Technology, Integrated Master of Science, and BS or MS programs who got admission through JEE Advanced, or Joint Admission test for Masters.

The annual income of the parents should be less than Rs 5 lakh

Candidates who wish to apply for this scholarship must have a CGPA of at least 7. (Not applicable for freshers)

James Thomson Scholarship

To be eligible for the James Thomson Scholarship, the candidates must be students of B.Tech, B.Arch, Integrated Dual Degree, Integrated Masters of Technology, Integrated Masters of Science, and BS or MS programmes. The candidates must have taken admission through JEE Advanced or the Joint Admission test for Masters. Candidates who are ranked within 250 in JEE Advance are only eligible for the scholarship.

Inspire SHE Scholarship

The full name of this scholarship is Inspire Scholarship for Higher Education. Under this scholarship, students who have passed the 12th standard and are pursuing higher studies receive Rs 80,000 per year. Both undergraduate and integrated postgraduate students are eligible for the scholarship. Candidates pursuing higher education in subjects like Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Electronics, Botany, and Zoology may apply for this scholarship. Adding to it, the candidates must be aged between 17 to 22 years.

Dr Surendra K Goel and Mrs Kusum Goel Scholarship

This scholarship is provided to engineering students who belong to financially weaker families. Under this scholarship, each student receives Rs 2 lakh per year. Candidates who wish to apply for this scholarship should have a CGPA of at least 7.5 each year. General and OBC category candidates studying in the first year of B.Tech are eligible for this scholarship. Additionally, the annual income of the family of the candidates should not be more than Rs 6 lakh.
