A Supaul student named Durgesh Kumar was selected in the examination conducted by the ISRO as part of the Young Scientist Program (YUVIKA). Now he will go to Bengaluru for a 12-day special training at ISRO. The special thing about it is that Durgesh’s father is an auto driver in Delhi, while his mother is a housewife. Both of them are not educated. It is known that on March 9, a total of 350 students from all over the country were selected by the ISRO, at which Durgesh secured the 252nd rank in the exam.
Durgesh is a student of class 9 of Kishanpur High School in the district of Supaul. The selected students were informed about this by e-mail. The whole family, including father Rajkumar Chaudhary and mother Sarita Devi, is happy with the selection of their son. They live in the Andauli Ward-06 district in the Kishanpur block of the Supaul district, Bihar. Durgesh said that the special training will take place from May 12 to May 24 at the UR Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru. For this, he will be leaving on May 8 from his village.
Durgesh shared that he would like to join the civil service in the future. However, he has been interested in science and scientific research for a long time. After the selection in YUVIKA, he is now very excited to get to know space research up close. If his curiosity is further strengthened in the training program, he can also think of becoming a scientist in the future.
Durgesh’s mother Sarita Devi said that she did not know ISRO due to her low education. But when high school teacher Jitendra Kumar told us about ISRO and this exam, we encouraged Durgesh. According to Sarita, she does not want the problems faced by men and women due to a lack of education. Therefore, she leaves no stone unturned in the education of her four children. Durgesh is the third of four siblings his older sister Sapna has a high school diploma, and his other sister Anshu has passed her intermediate exam this year. Her younger brother Akhilesh is currently in class 6.
