Students who have passed either exam 1 or exam 2 and wish to improve their results were eligible to apply for the 2nd PUC exam 3. The state board had discontinued the supply exams and instead allowed students three chances to take the final exams. Till 2022, only the marks received in the supplementary examination were taken into consideration as the student’s final marks. However, this time, the board introduced a remedial system that allowed students to retain their best scores from the first, second, and third examinations, referring to it as a ‘student unfriendly mechanism.’ When KSEAB introduced a third examination for second-year PU candidates in 2022-23, 1.19 lakh students registered, with 41,961 passing.
