In a surprising turn of events, a bulldozer operation was carried out in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh after an IAS officer was served with a fake water bottle during his visit to a police post. The incident unfolded when the District Magistrate (DM) of Baghpat, Jitendra Pratap Singh was served a 500 ml bottle labelled ‘Bilseri’- a fake version of ‘Bisleri’.
After ordering an investigation into the matter, thousands of counterfeit branded water bottles were confiscated and were subjected to destruction by the officials. Let us take a look at the incident and who DM Jitendra Pratap Singh is who took such a brave decision.
Baghpat DM Jitendra Pratap Singh was accompanied by Superintendent of Police (SP) Arpit Vijayvargiya. The DM noticed the suspicious bottle placed before him. Upon close inspection, he found it lacked the required food license number. The DM immediately instructed the Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety to investigate the matter. In the investigation, it was discovered that the water bottles were sourced from a shop in Gauripur. Further investigation uncovered that Bhim Singh, a resident of Gauripur, was operating an illegal storage facility from his home, distributing counterfeit water bottles to various shops across the district.
The name of the DM of Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh is Jitendra Pratap Singh. Jitendra Pratap Singh used to be the DM of Deoria before this. He hails from Farrukhabad. He is an MA graduate and was selected as a PCS Officer in the State Administrative Service Examination through UPPSC in 2013. After six years, he was promoted to the post of IAS. From April 28, 2017, to July 12, 2019, Jitendra Pratap Singh held the post of Additional Director in Mandi Parishad, Lucknow.
After this, he was appointed as the Director of State Agricultural Production Mandi Parishad, Lucknow from July 12, 2019, to March 2, 2021. After this, he was made the DM of Kanpur Dehat, where he remained on this post till 14 April 2022. After this, he was transferred to Deoria, where he remained posted as DM till June 2, 2023. From here he was transferred to Baghpat, where he is still posted.
