The Indian cricket team had a fairly eventful practice session at Kandy ahead of their opening game in the T20I series against Sri Lanka. Players were seen having a fun-filled training session which even got a smile from the newly appointed Head Coach, Gautam Gambhir.
In the session, the boys were seen working on their aim at the stumps with several targets lined up which were worth points. The likes of the captain, Suryakumar Yadav, along with Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill and many others took part in this drill.
Quite a few players managed to hit the target and the mood in the camp was certainly a positive one with the players enjoying their fielding drills and a short clip of Gambhir where he can be seen smiling is also shown.

The likes of Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj can also be seen practising their catching skills as well. But the surprising bit is that of the wicketkeeper Sanju Samson who managed to take a blinder of a catch which got the team all riled up.
The T20I series against Sri Lanka will be India’s first without stars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja who had announced their retirement from the format after leading India to victory in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados.

It will also be Gambhir’s first assignment as the head coach of the side where he will look to start on a positive note and hope to find the appropriate replacements for India’s senior stars.
All of India’s T20I games will be taking place at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, in Pallekele whereas the 50-over games will be taking place at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo.

Both Rohit and Virat are set to take part in the ODI series after the squad for the same was announced earlier. Rohit handed down the captaincy duties in the shortest format to the T20I specialist batter, Suryakumar Yadav and he will look to continue where he left off where he managed to take series wins in against Australia and South Africa earlier this year.
