Narine is one of KKR’s old guards having played for them since 2012. He won the tournament with them in 2012 and 2014 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir.
Narine was widely recognised as a game-changing spinner in his early few seasons in the tournament. He scalped 24 wickets in his debut year, followed by hauls of 22 and 21 in 2013 and 2014, respectively. In his IPL career, Narine has scalped a total of 163 wickets so far. The veteran spinner has often proven to be a menace with the bat as well. He has a total of 1046 runs in 162 matches at an excellent strike-rate of 159.69.
Russell has been an integral part of the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise since 2014. The allroinder has often won games single-handedly for KKR, with his best overall season coming in 2019.
That year Russell put up some incredible numbers, scoring 510 runs in 14 matches. He did so at an impressive average of 56.66 and a jaw-dropping strike rate of 204.81. In the same season, Russell also scalped a total of 11 wickets. The West Indies all-rounder has scored a total of 2262 runs in the IPL while also scalping 96 wickets.
KKR had a poor showing last year with the franchise finishing in the seventh spot.
Both Russell and Narine had an underwhelming season too.
Russell scored 227 runs while taking seven wickets whereas Narine scored a mere 21 runs and took 11 scalps last year.
