Team India put themselves in command of the third Test against England in Rajkot on Sunday as they set England a target of 557 runs thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unbeaten double ton.

The young Indian opener broke a plethora of records en route to his 214 runs against the Englishmen as he helped India pile on the lead and establish a position of dominance.

Jaiswal was supported by Sarfaraz Khan, who also stood unbeaten at 68 when India decided to declare their innings.

However, preceding the actual declaration, a lapse in communication around the 98th over, led to the batters at the crease thinking they had to head back.

But, skipper Rohit Sharma asked Jaiswal and Sarfaraz to go back to bat and continue their innings.

Team India set England a target of 557 runs thanks to Jaiswal’s incredible innings which saw him pummel English bowlers all around the park in attacking fashion.

The southpaw, who retired hurt on Saturday due to what looked like a back spasm, came out to bat when Shubman Gill was run out at 91 on Day 4 and remained unbeaten.

England, who came out to chase the target, collapsed in stunning fashion as the Indian bowling unit took charge with the comfort of the huge score to defend.

Ben Duckett was the first to go as he was caught short in between the crease thanks to Mohammed Siraj, before lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah sent Zak Crawley back to the hut.

Hometown lad Ravindra Jadeja took control of proceedings as he got rid of three English batsmen in quick fashion as he dismissed Ollie Pope, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root to spur the English batting debacle.

English skipper Ben Stokes fell victim to Kuldeep Yadav after making 15 runs as the wily left-arm spinner caught the batter plumb in front of the wicket.

Yadav added a further wicket to his tally as he sent Rehan Ahmed as Siraj held on to the catch offered up by the Englishman.
