Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Shreyanka Patil took to celebrate RCB’s thrilling win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to book their place in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs.

Shreyanka Patil, who helped win the Women’s Premier League title, RCB’s first-ever piece of silverware, took to social media to post pictures that showed how the men’s side would make the play in the playoffs. Eventually, RCB did manage to do the once unthinkable and won six games on the trot.

“To all of you who laughed at us when these images were being circulated, it ain’t too late! Jump onto the RCB train, you’ll be in for one crazy ride!!!,” she posted on X.

RCB defeated the defending champions by 27 runs at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru posted 218-5 after Du Plessis, who hit 54, and Kohli, who smashed 47, laid the foundations for the total in a rain-hit innings at their home ground. Chennai were held to 191-7 in reply and with both sides level on 14 points, Bengaluru went through to the playoffs on run-rate after a sixth win in a row.

Bengaluru will now play in the eliminator on Wednesday in Ahmedabad.

Table-toppers Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad had already made the playoffs, which will begin with the first qualifier on Tuesday with the final scheduled on May 26 in Chennai.

“What a night! Such a great atmosphere. Just a pleasure to finish the season in front of the home crowd with a win,” player of the match and RCB skipper Faf du Plessis, who did a lap of honour with his team for the home fans, said.
