Points Table, Orange Cap and Purple Cap Standings After GT vs MI in IPL 2024 - Get All the Details Here
Check out the holders of the orange and purple caps and the changes in the points table after the recent fixture in the IPL between GT and MI.

The first Sunday of IPL 2024 saw a couple of exhilarating contests in Jaipur and Ahmedabad, causing some major ups and downs on the points tally. The inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 20 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium to begin their campaign on a high. Later in the evening, Gujarat Titans (GT) pulled off a heist at home, defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) by 6 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Now that all 10 teams have played a game each this season, 5 of them have captured the top half of the table while the rest are placed in the bottom, looking for ways to bounce back. RR’s win on Sunday took them to the top of the table with 2 points and a Net Run rate of +1. Defending Champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are placed second with an NRR +0.779, followed by Punjab Kings (NRR +0.455), Gujarat Titans (NRR +0.300) and Kolkata Knight Riders (NRR +0.2000).

Orange Cap

RR captain Sanju Samson on Sunday scored an unbeaten 82 off 52 balls, grabbing the top spot on the Purple Cap list. He displaced KKR all-rounder Andre Russell whose 24-ball 64 not-out set the base for the team’s win against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday night. Nicholas Pooran, whose unbeaten 64-run knock against RR on Saturday went in vain, is third on the spot, followed by Heinrich Klaasen (63) and Punjab Kings’ Sam Curran (63).

Purple Cap

After the conclusion of the first five games, CSK’s Mustafizur Rahman leads the top wicket-takers charts with his 4-wicket haul against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the season opener at Chepauk last week. Second on the list is Jasprit Bumrah who returned magical figures of 3/14 against GT on Sunday night. The next three bowlers in the top 5 are SRH’s left-arm pacer T Natarajan (3 wickets against KKR), KKR’s Harshit Rana (3 wickets against SRH) and Delhi Capitals’s legs-pinner Kuldeep Yadav (2 wickets against PBKS).
