Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis has shed some light on the team’s upcoming crucial fixture against the Chennai Super Kings tonight. Bengaluru and Chennai are set to compete in their final league match of IPL 2024 on May 18 for a ticket to the playoffs.
Ahead of the all-important game, Du Plessis exuded confidence.
“We’ve been doing really well for the last couple of weeks. So, we’re really looking forward to the game tomorrow,” Du Plessis said in a video shared by RCB.
Du Plessis next talked about how performing in front of their home crowd would be an amazing experience for him and his team.
“It’d be a great occasion, honestly, at home, in front of our fans, there will also be a lot of yellow fans but it’s gonna be a great occasion. But yeah, we are just nice and calm and relaxed and looking forward to the game”, the Bengaluru skipper added.
He also addressed MS Dhoni’s retirement rumours, saying it wasn’t anything new for him.
“People have been talking about MS retiring for six years so it doesn’t really change. The conversation is about what we do in our team,” he concluded.

Du Plessis is proud of the way RCB bounced back after suffering six defeats in a row. “We’re just proud of the way we’ve turned things around…it’s nothing short of remarkable. To be the only team that has won five in a row in this competition. For me, I’m extremely proud of that,” he said.
The South African then also spoke about his excitement for the high-octane clash. “Also leading in tomorrow (Saturday), I’m also excited about the opportunity that how we are playing our cricket towards the end of the competition and you know, fingers crossed, weather is good and we keep playing the style of cricket we wanna play.”
CSK are currently in an advantageous position in the IPL table.
A win or a no-result will see the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led franchise make it to the playoffs.
Even if CSK loses, they would still have a chance to qualify if the defeat is marginal. As for RCB, they must secure a sizeable victory to advance to the playoffs.
