PAK vs BAN 1st Test: Mushfiqur Rahim Donates POTM Prize Money To Flood Victims In Bangladesh
Mushfiqur Rahim top-scored for Bangladesh in the first innings of the Rawalpindi Test by scoring 191 runs from 341 balls with the help of 22 fours and one six.

Star Bangladeshi batter Mushfiqur Rahim played a big role in the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side’s 10-wicket win over Pakistan in the first Test on Sunday (August 25). The former captain top-scored for the visitors in the first inning at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium by making 191 runs from 341 balls. During his stay at the crease, he hammered 22 fours and one six.

His 191-run knock helped Bangladesh post a total of 565 runs and take a 117-run lead in the first inning, which in the end proved to be the difference in the match. For his superb show with the bat, Rahim won the Player of the Match award.

After winning the prize, Rahim made a special announcement and donated the prize money to flood-affected people in Bangladesh.

“I want to make an announcement; I want to donate my prize money as there’s been flood back in Bangladesh,” Rahim said after the match.

According to Bangladeshi daily Prothom Alo, floods have wreaked havoc across 11 districts in the country, affecting over 4.8 million people and resulting in 15 deaths.

Rahim, who is the all-time leading run scorer for Bangladesh in Test cricket’s history, was a doubtful starter for the first match after he suffered an injury during the Bangladesh A match against Pakistan Shaheens last week. He, however, recovered well in time and played one of the best knocks of his career to seal a memorable win for his side.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, Rahim declared his 191-run show as one of the finest knocks and said doing well for his country inspires him.

“This is one of my finest (knocks) so far, because we haven’t done that well overseas. All the players prepared well in Pakistan and back home as well. Before the Test series, there was a two and a half-month gap. All the players and management were there; the other white-ball players were playing in the World Cup. I’m thankful to the coaching staff and management. When I meet all these guys, it’s a luxury for him (Shanto), and I try to give my best. Doing well for my country inspires me.”
