'It Was my Wrong Call': Ravindra Jadeja Breaks Silence After Big Mix-up Leading to Sarfaraz Khan's Run-out

Ravindra Jadeja broke his silence on the dismissal of the debutant Sarfaraz Khan in the third Test against England at Rajkot. The all-rounder was eyeing his century and made the wrong call for a single which resulted in the debutant being dismissed after a fiery knock of 62 off 66 deliveries.

After Day 1 of the 3rd Test, Jadeja took to Instagram where he uploaded a story which read,” Feeling bad for Sarfaraz Khan, it was my wrong call. Well played.”

While Sarfaraz was very understanding of the situation by saying ‘It is part of the game,’ in the press conference, videos went viral across social media which showed the Indian skipper throwing his cap on the floor in anger. Jadeja himself looked to be frustrated with the way his partner got dismissed as he had a mellow celebration when reaching the century mark.

The left-hander was seemingly slow in getting towards his century opting to go for the defensive approach. When Sarfaraz had come in to bat, the all-rounder was at 84. The debutant, after a shaky 12-15 deliveries got the boundaries rolling in as he batted aggressively to take the game against England.

It did not take long for the 26-year-old to get to his fifty as he brought up his maiden Test half-century in just 48 deliveries equalling Hardik Pandya’s record for the second-fastest fifty on Test debut.

Sarfaraz continued to be in good touch but Jadeja on the other hand seemed to have gone into his shell as he looked for the odd single and opted for the minimal-risk approach. Jadeja crawled towards 99 and looked to get the milestone quickly as he called for the single but backed out mid-way as Sarfaraz was well outside the crease leading to Mark Wood who was stood at mid-on to get the direct-hit and pulling the curtains down on what was a stellar innings on debut.

The onus will now be on Jadeja who remains unbeaten on 110 and has the likes of Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin yet to come in to bat as the 35-year-old will be expected to score more and help India most a massive first innings score at Rajkot.
