An exceptional display of batting from the young guns helped India register a six-wicket triumph over Afghanistan in the opening T20I. The Men in Blue will look to replicate the dominance in the next game in a bid to register an unassailable lead in the three-match series.

India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss in the first T20I and put the visitors in to bat first, considering the dew factor in Mohali. Afghanistan made a positive start to their innings, with the top three batters making decent contributions to the total.
After Afghanistan lost their third wicket at the score of 57, Mohammed Nabi took over the charge, going all guns blazing. He smashed 42 off 26 balls and his quickfire knock was laced with two fours and three sixes. Powered by his blistering show, Afghanistan set a target of 159 runs.
Coming to chase, India opener Rohit Sharma returned with a duck. Shubman Gill and Tilak Verma also failed to survive longer, scoring 23 and 26 runs respectively.
India came roaring back to the contest on the heels of an unbeaten 60 from Shivam Dube. Jitesh Sharma and Rinku Singh also demonstrated their big-hitting prowess as India completed the chase in 17.3 overs.
