'Hope he Stays Humble': Rohit Sharma Praises Yashasvi Jaiswal After 'Exceptional Knock' in Vizag
Rohit Sharma believes that Yashasvi Jaiswal has 'a long way to go' and hopes that he remains humble after his stellar double century in the Vizag Test.

As India managed to secure the crucial victory against England to level the series, the skipper Rohit Sharma was happy with the performance from his side throughout the second Test at Visakhapatnam. He also praised the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Yashasvi Jaiswal for their immense contribution to winning the match on Day 4.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, the skipper praised young Yashasvi Jaiswal for his significant contributions in the second Test who managed to set the tone for the Indian innings with the bat as he went on to score his maiden double-century in the first innings and single-handedly went on to help India post a good total on the board.

Rohit praised his batting partner and lauded his knock. The skipper believes that he can go a long way. He commented,”(Jaiswal) Looks like a very good player, understands his game. Got a long way to go, of course. It was an exceptional knock. He has a lot to offer the team, and I hope he stays humble.”

Speaking on the Indian batting unit, the skipper believes an area that needs to be worked on is to convert the starts that the batters were able to get in what was a good batting track. Rohit said, “The wicket was good to bat on, a lot of the batters got starts and didn’t convert. They are young and new to this format, so it will take some time.”

The Indian skipper was proud of the side which consists of several young players who are inexperienced in the longest format for their performances against a good opposition. Rohti believes that the win would give the side a lot of confidence and looks forward to what is going to be a challenging series ahead.

The captain also praised his lead pacer, Jasprit Bumrah for his contributions. Bumrah has been leading the pace attack for the Indian side for quite some time now and has come a long way since his debut.

Rohit commented, “He’s (Bumrah) a champion player for us, done the job for a while. When you win a game like that you have to look at the overall performance. We know that winning a Test match in these conditions is not going to be easy, the bowlers stepped up.”

Jasprit Bumrah showcased a master class in fast bowling in Indian conditions where he took advantage of the reverse swing on offer and picked up six wickets in the first innings of the Test and then went on to close out the match with three wickets in the second innings as India went on to register the win by 106 runs.
