New Delhi: After playing hide and seek for sometime now, the Sensex has finally caught up with the 12,000 mark. It has touchced an all-time high of 12015.31.
The markets ended with a strong bull rally. The Sensex closed above 12,000 for the first time ever. Reliance, Tata Steel, Hindalco, Tata Motors and Satyam were the leader. The BSE Metal and Oil & Gas Index ended higher.

The markets ended with a strong bull rally. The Sensex ended at 12,039.55, up 143.57 points or 1.21 per cent. It hit a life high of 12,053.74.
The Nifty closed at 3573.50, up 36.65 points or 1.06 per cent. It touched an all-time high of 3578.35.
The CNX Midcap ended up 36 points or 0.73 per cent at 4954.90. It touched an intraday high of 4969.55 and an intraday low of 4930.15.
The BSE Small Cap Index closed at 6,998.11, up 0.81 per cent. The BSE Midcap Index ended up 0.77 per cent at 5,613.92.
The market breadth was positive, about 1332 shares advanced, 1111 shares declined, and 57 shares remained unchanged.
The total market turnover recorded at Rs 54186.86 crore. The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 9708.73 crore. The NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 39446.2 crore. The BSE cash turnover was at Rs 5031.93 crore.
Sensex took 19 days to move from 11,000 to 12,000 mark.
Oil stocks like Reliance, ONGC, MRPL and Petronet LNG led the rally today. The BSE Oil & Gas Index closed at 5,604.87, up 4.43 per cent or 237.82 points.
Metal stocks including Hindalco, Tata Steel, Welspun Gujarat, Jindal Saw, JSW Steel, Sail, Sesa Goa and Hind Zinc also ended with smart gains. The BSE Metal Index closed up 3.84 per cent or 384.07 points at 10,398.20.
The BSE Auto Index ended at 5,467.17, up 0.97% as buying was seen in Cummins, Hind Motors, Tata Motors, Punj Tractors, MRF, Escorts and Bharat Forge.
FMCG stocks including Nestle, ITC, Dabur India, McDowell and Britannia also stirred up. The BSE FMCG Index closed at 2,251.78, up 0.70 per cent.
Capital goods stocks like Praj Industries, Carborundum, Siemens, Alfa Laval, SKF India, ABB, Dredging Corporation and BEML also spurted up. The BSE Capital Goods Index closed up 0.67 per cent at 8,669.74.
Some banking and technology stocks also witnessed buying interest.
However, pharma stocks like Sun Pharma, Lupin, Ranbaxy Labs, Cipla, Divis Labs and FDC slipped. The BSE Healthcare Index ended at 3,928.07, down 0.64 per cent.
The BSE Consumer Durables Index closed up 0.68 per cent at 3,341.13 due to losses in Su-Raj Diamonds, Blue Star, Mirc Electronics and Samtel Color.
