Rupee Down 13 Paise Against Dollar in Early Trade
Forex dealers said fresh demand for the US currency from importers and a lower opening in the domestic equity market put pressure on the rupee.

Mumbai: Rupee was trading lower by 13 paise at 67.21 against the dollar in early trade on Monday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market as the American currency strengthened overseas.

Forex dealers said fresh demand for the US currency from importers and a lower opening in the domestic equity market put pressure on the rupee.

On Friday, the rupee had gained 9 paise to close at a fresh one-week high of 67.08 against the US dollar amid sustained selling of the American currency by banks and exporters.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell by 66.73 points, or 0.24 per cent, to 27,736,51 in opening trade on Monday.
