Mumbai: Bombay Stock Index crossed 21,000 points for the first time on Tuesday, led by Reliance Industries and HDFC Bank.
Earlier in opening trade, the 30-share BSE index was up 1.13 per cent, or 236.19 points, at 21,048.84, having risen as far as 21,077.53 in early deals.
The previous record of 20,861.83 was set on Monday. The 50-issue NSE index was up 0.99 percent up at 6,340.95, having hit a record high of 6,351.45.
