Similarly, recent news has surfaced and grabbed the attention of the internet after it claims that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced new updates to Aadhaar banking. It shared a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, “Claim: RBI has made new updates in Aadhaar banking, according to which now it is mandatory to transact money through Aadhaar at least once a month, failing which the customer’s facility to transact through Aadhaar will be locked. PIB Fact Check: This claim is fake, do not share such fake content.”

In another tweet, PIB wrote, “AePS: No guidelines have been issued for account holders to mandatorily do AEPS transactions every month to keep the services active. NPCI has not made it mandatory to link mobile numbers to bank accounts for AEPS transactions through any circular.”
