Zee5 Secures OTT Rights For HanuMan As Film Gains Momentum In Theatres

The highly anticipated Telugu film of 2024, HanuMan, starring Teja Sajja, made its theatrical debut on January 12, coinciding with Makar Sankranti. Directed by Prasanth Varma, this movie is considered the first instalment of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe. HanuMan has received positive reviews at the box office, with praise particularly directed at the impressive VFX in the film.

Recent reports reveal that the OTT rights for the movie have been acquired by Zee Company, which has also secured the total non-theatrical rights. Zee Corporation now possesses the rights for Zee Telugu, Zee Cinema, and Zee5 for HanuMan. The film is expected to be available on OTT platforms within 60 days of its theatrical release.

Produced by Niranjan Reddy Kandagatla under Primeshow Entertainment, the Telugu superhero film features Teja Sajja in the lead role, alongside Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Rajdeepak Shetty, and Vinay Rai in pivotal roles. The music is composed by Anudeep Dev, GowraHari, and Krishna Saurabh, while Dasaradhi Sivendra and Sai Babu Talari handle cinematography and editing, respectively.

HanuMan faced challenges securing theatres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana due to its clash with other releases. Nevertheless, the film did a pre-release business of Rs 26.65 crore worldwide. Ticket rates for the movie in Telangana Multiplexes are set at Rs 295, while in Hyderabad city, single-screen tickets are priced at Rs 150. In other parts of Andhra Pradesh, single-screen tickets are sold at Rs 110.

The storyline revolves around a young man blessed with supernatural powers bestowed upon him by Lord Hanuman. Set in the fictional village of Anjanadri, the film is also available in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, English, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese, expanding its audience beyond Telugu viewers.

HanuMan marks the second collaboration between director Prasanth Varma and Teja Sajja, following their 2021 release, Zombie Reddy. The pre-release event for HanuMan took place on January 7 in Hyderabad, with Megastar Chiranjeevi attending as the chief guest.
