The Chaudhary Charan Singh International (CCSI) Airport announced on Wednesday, April 17, that it is moving the entire domestic operations from Terminal 2 to the newly integrated Terminal 3 (T3).
The operations are set to commence at 00:00 hours from Sunday, April 21. Presently, Air India, Indigo Airlines, Air India Express, Vistara, Fly Big, Air Asia India, and Star Air operate their domestic flights from Terminal 2. However, they will be shifting their entire domestic operations to Terminal 3 from Sunday, April 21.
It is worth noting that Akasa Air was the first airline to shift its operations to Terminal 3 on March 31, 2024.
A CCSI Airport spokesperson announced the shift and stated, “The move is in line with the Lucknow airport’s aim to shift all the flight operations to Terminal 3 in a phased manner. The airport welcomes all the airline partners to start their domestic operations at 00:00 Hrs on April 21 from the newly constructed integrated terminal. The international operations will continue from Terminal 1 for the time being,” reported The Statesman.
“Terminal 3, built at a cost of Rs 2,400 crore, boasts a Phase 1 capacity of 80 lakh passengers annually. It was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 10, 2024. The capacity of Terminal 3 is scheduled to increase to 1.3 crore passengers annually by the end of Phase 2. Moreover, the T3 will provide employment to over 13,000 people,” the spokesperson concluded.
All domestic travellers leaving the airport will be directed to use the ramp located next to the Lakshman Circle.Family members arriving for a pick-up will have to proceed to the ground floor and head towards the arrival area of Terminal 3.
The airport spokesperson further said that they are collaborating with the airlines to ensure a seamless transition to Terminal 3 for the benefit of travellers and provide them with a world-class experience.Thenewly constructed apron will increase the flyers boarding gates from 7 to 13 and boarding bridges from 2 to 7.
He went on to say that emphasis is being placed on ensuring that passengers on domestic flights are adequately informed regarding the shift to Terminal 3 in a timely manner.
The Lucknow airport will be deploying signage and Customer Service Associates at strategic decision-making points near the airport to guide passengers towards Terminal 3, including the Airport Metro station, reported the media portal.
Moreover, the T3 of the CCSI Airport has various features likeDigi Yatra, common use self-service kiosks, adequate check-in counters, automated tray retrieval systems, self-baggage drop, baggage reclaim belts, advanced baggage screening machines, and aerobridges & parking bays for aircraft to provide a seamless experience to passengers.
Flyers will also get an out-of-the-world audio-visual experience at the airport, showcasing the rich art and architecture of the state. From the entry gates to the skylight, passengers will be mesmerised with illuminated motifs of ‘Chikankari’ and ‘Mukaish’ embroidery in check-in counters and graphics depicting tales from epics like the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
