The incident took place near Bagodara village on Rajkot-Ahmedabad Highway when a group of people were returning from Chotila in Surendranagar district

At least 10 people, including three minors, were killed in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad after a mini-truck, which the victims were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck on Friday, the police said. 13 others were left grievously injured in the mishap.

“Five women, three children and two men were killed in the accident that took place in the morning,” Ahmedabad District Superintendent of Police Amit Vasava said.

Ahmedabad SP Amit N Vasava told ANI that there were a total of 23 people inside the vehicle when the crash occurred.

Today in the daytime, an incident took place in which a truck was parked at the roadside due to puncture and a vehicle was going to Ahmedabad from Rajkot and the passengers travelling in the vehicle belong to Kheda village,” Vasava told ANI.

The vehicle collided with the truck parked by the roadside which led to the death of passengers. A total of ten people have died including five females, two males and three children. We are investigating the matter and RTO and NHAI are also involved in it. A total of 23 people were there in the vehicle, out of which two people sustained serious injuries,” he added.

The incident took place near Bagodara village on Rajkot-Ahmedabad Highway. The group of people was returning to Ahmedabad from Chotila in neighbouring Surendranagar district.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident and announced Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia amount for the family of the victim.

“Pained by the road mishap on the Bavla-Bagodara highway in Ahmedabad district. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to those affected,” PMO India tweeted.
