CM Jagan Mohan Reddy is said to have asked ministers and legislators belonging to the minority community to create awareness among Muslims and assure them the government would not do anything that goes against their interests.

The march-meeting was organised on the campus of the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), which saw a protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) earlier this week.

CM Kamal Nath said he had a copy of the letter received from the Centre which stated that if the state government had paid wheat bonus to farmers or planned to pay it in future, procurement from the state would be reduced by 7 lakh metric tonnes.

Hemant Soren's comments, which referred to the recent sexual assault cases, came ahead of the fifth and last phase of polling on December 20.

The RJD youth leader alleged that chief minister Nitish is "toeing the BJP's line" on the amended Citizenship Act, which has vitiated the atmosphere across the country.

Most of them expressed strong views against the amended citizenship Act, and said the rally was their way to register their protest against the "unconstitutional values" of the new Act.

She also asserted the country will fight against the amended citizenship act as it "shreds" India's soul.

The EC order, signed by its secretary Dilip K Verma, was sent to AMMK general secretary Dhinakaran, the nephew of Jayalalithaa's friend V N Sasikala.

Banerjee said the Act will divide India and till the TMC was in power, not a single person in the state would have to leave the country.
